The USDOT Seeks Applicants for a Supervisory Transportation Specialist

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is seeking a Supervisory Transportation Specialist for the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Joint Program Office (JPO). The position is located in Washington, DC.

This is an exciting professional opportunity to be a part of a team working on groundbreaking ITS research, exploratory studies, and a deployment support program. The Supervisory Transportation Specialist will:

  • Monitor national and international ITS policy and institutional issues to recommend ITS research activities for the ITS JPO. Work collaboratively with modal partners to coordinate ITS knowledge transfer, leveraging work in modal administrations, university transportation centers, and the public and private sectors.
  • Develop a knowledge transfer program area within the ITS JPO to include understanding the federal role in commercialization and technology transfer into the public and private sectors. Through ITS JPO staff or contractors, develop expertise in economics, finance, business models, and marketing.
  • Oversee professional capacity building and develop stakeholder relationships, particularly with external groups who are key to technology transfer.
  • Supervise a team of ITS professionals in executing effective knowledge transfer and policy/institutional research and work in coordination with other supervisors to ensure projects successfully advance from research, testing, technology transfer, and evaluation.

This position requires experience in analyzing and reviewing ITS policies and skill in collaborating with public and private transportation stakeholders on the implementation, commercialization, and communication of those policies.
