Leveraging Local Funding for TIM

In the February issue of TIM Network's The Responder, you will find several articles focused on local efforts to garner support and funding for traffic incident management (TIM) programs, such as the “Leveraging Local Funding for TIM Webinar” announcement below. Most efforts in this arena typically focus on the transportation world at the federal and state levels, which is of course critical. However, the importance of approaching and involving local and regional government associations and cities is a relatively untapped source of support and participation in the planning and mitigation of safe, clear roads. Many studies have been done on the economic impact transportation has on a locality. Elected local officials and appointed government leaders have a vested interest in keeping commerce moving in their areas.

So what can this support look like? As TIM professionals, it is up to us to pick up the gauntlet of leadership and seek new ways to spread the word about TIM best practices to those in our area of influence.
