Talking TIM Webinar Series: February 2020

Overview

State and local Traffic Incident Management (TIM) programs cover a broad range of maturity from emerging programs to those that are advanced. The Talking TIM Webinar Series seeks to provide a forum where TIM champions with any level of experience can exchange information about current practices, programs, and technologies. Each month, Talking TIM will highlight successful programs, identify best practices, and showcase technology that advances the profession.
The February webinar agenda includes:

Presenters

Pat Rooney (Maryland DOT State Highway Administration): Patrick “Pat” Rooney, is the Operations Manager - Training & Certification for the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Highway Administration, Coordinated Highways Action Response Team, better known as CHART.  Pat is currently the Maryland coordinator to the Federal Highway Administration TIM Program.  Prior to accepting his current position with CHART 6 years ago, Pat was a law enforcement instructor for the Maryland Police Training Commission where he still holds his instructor certification and occasionally assists at the academy.  While at MPTC, he was responsible for getting their Entry Level Police Academy recognized as the first in the State of Maryland to adopt the FHWA SHRP2 National Traffic Incident Management Responder Course as part of their curriculum.  He was the academy’s primary traffic instructor, Standardized Field Sobriety Training (SFST) Instructor, Radar and Laser Instructor, and an EVOC Instructor.   Having been an EMT for 30 years, Pat is currently a Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor.  He also holds a level 3 certification in Homeland Security

Lori Miller (Varner Miller, Inc.): Lori Miller is the President of VarnerMiller, LLC, an Interactive Training and Workforce Development company. She received her Master’s Degree from West Virginia University and has spent the last 20 years designing and developing innovative learning solutions for corporate and government clients. Lori leads the VarnerMiller instructional design and multimedia teams in the development of creative and effective training programs. Working with the Federal Highway Administration since 2016, Lori and her team created the Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Instructor Led Virtual Training (ILVT).

Katie Belmore (HNTB): Katie Belmore is a Traffic Operations Engineer with HNTB Corporation. Based in Seattle, she has 16 years of experience and specializes in traffic incident management (TIM). Katie has been supporting FHWA with the implementation of the National TIM Responder Training Program since 2013.
