Start Date:

March 18, 2026 from 01:00 pm - 02:30 pm EDT

Summary:

This webinar will introduce a new playbook (FHWA-HOP-25=045) designed to equip Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) practitioners with approach to anticipate, adapt to, and leverage innovations and shifts in emerging technologies, trends, and services (ETTS) to advance their programs.

TSMO practices continue to evolve, mirroring innovations in communications, vehicle and consumer technology, traveler behavior and preferences, and data analytics. Emerging technologies and trends create new services, capabilities, and applications for transportation users and agencies. By evaluating and incorporating them, agencies can increase the overall effectiveness of their TSMO efforts.

The playbook is organized into four context areas: Planning and Program; Institutional, Systems, and Operations. The webinar will feature an overview of the new Playbook for Integrating Emerging Trends, Technologies, and Services into TSMO and two presentations on transportation agencies are leveraging technology to advance their TSMO programs:

  • ICF, Kerri Snyder: Overview of the Playbook for Integrating Emerging Trends, Technologies, and Services into TSMO
  • City of Bellevue Department of Transportation, Kirk Neibert and Daniel Lai: Presentation on the City’s Real-Time Traffic Signal Safety Interventions (RTSSI) system
  • Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet), A.J. O’Connor: Presentation on TriMet’s Next-Generation Transit Signal Priority (TSP) program
